WDS TD-books can be downloaded from the Our Collection page.

Place every downloaded TD-book in a central directory, for example c:\WDS.

TD-books arrive in packed form, in one or more .zip archives. The books have to be unpacked, or unzipped. This is a function of the WD-Reader program.

Just open the .zip file in WD-Reader and the unpacking will be executed automatically. The unpacking process may take a few seconds, or up to a few minutes, depending on the size of the work in question.

When opening a .zip archive WD-Reader creates a directory with the same name as the .zip archive (without the extension .zip) and places all the files from the archive into this directory.

Example:

  • 1. The file Ernest.zip downloaded into the directory c:\WDS
  • 2. The program WD-Reader is started and the file c:\WDS\Ernest.zip is opened
  • 3. WD-Reader:
  1. a) unpacks the .zip file and places all files in the directory c:\WDS\Ernest\
  2. b) opens the document c:\WDS\Ernest\Ernest.wdf
  3. c) adds Ernest.wdf to the Recently used documents list of the File menu
  • 4) The file c:\WDS\Ernest.zip can now be deleted. The next time the user wants to read Ernest.wdf this document can be opened using the recently used documents list of the File menu.

Larger works arrive in several, numbered .zip files, for example pinocchio1.zip and pinocchio2.zip.

When the first file has been downloaded it can be unpacked by WD-Reader, the TD-book will be opened and can be used.

However: to acquire the audio-files for all the chapters of the TD-book it is necessary to download all zip files and to open each one, using WD-Reader, to unzip the contents.
